"Maybe she starts walking and she doesn't stop. You know, she obviously has zero interest in keeping this family together."
—Dean to Sam about Mary

Project Intro: Well, things have not gone to plan. I gave myself a project for the 2016-2017 TV season. I was going to tweet every episode of my five favorite dramas and then gather those tweets into post form, sprinkling in more commentary here and there. The only one I managed to finish was The Walking Dead S7E8, which took weeks, as is the usual for me when I get hung up on one amazing episode. So, the whole summer passed me by and I had nothing to show for it. But I'm not giving up on this project. I'm just turning it in past due, trying to avoid a two-season pile up by May. Good luck to me.

My how Sam's changed over the years. Yet he still looks baby-faced; they both do. Cuties. If only I could find time for a rewatch of all these seasons. I just need to quit my job, which I will actually be doing to better focus on my small business, hopefully soon. I badly need more freedom.

Those were great, but my forever favorite names will always belong to Castiel and Crowley in "The Foundry" (12.3) as Agents Beyoncé and Jay Z. For more names the boys have used in their unofficial investigations across the country, check out Supernatural Wiki: Aliases.

This is so sweet and desperate and has got to hurt the heart of every fan. I hope Mary gets back to her boys soon.

I want more of Castiel and Crowley together. Their contentious relationship, with Crowley's sarcasm and Castiel's impatience with him, is the funniest thing.

"Coroner says signs of stigmata with a side of scrambled brains."
—Dean to Sam

Blech. This is one of the grosser ones. Also, lol. Also, it's giving me Fringe feels.

DDean climbing the fence, while Sam just walks around it. A giggle-worthy moment, followed by sad Dean lashing out at their absent mom. I loved that humor and anger in the same scene, so close to the surface.

But she doesn't hate you. She wanted better for you and she blames herself. If you think she's not proud to have such great kids, you're wrong.

They were playing social workers, but professors was my first thought.

How many can say that and actually mean it? 😂

"God doesn't care what kind of life you live. Trust me."
—Sam to Gail Peterson

There are, like, two people on Earth who can say this with authority and Sam is one of them, so you can take that to the bank.

My-daughter-didn't-need-a-doctor-because-God-will-take-care-of-everything idiot woman deserves even harsher words than that, but I'll take when I can get.

I can hardly lie on a bed that way. I'm a bit delicate. lol

"I have tried to keep the Devil locked away, and you let him out. You couldn't let it rest. And now, the Devil is doing his work through you."
—Gail to Magda

"Your mother's doing God's work, son."
—Abraham to Elijah

Does God's work really involve having mothers force their children to whip themselves? That doesn't sound very loving.

Oh, Sam, don't get yourself caught. Sneaking around always gets someone caught... Damn it, no one ever listens to me. Sam got himself caught. Not being very helpful.

You are not the Devil. You're not evil. And it's scary. I know it's scary, but you can learn how to control it. You don't ever have to hurt anyone again.
—Sam to Magda

Oh, maybe getting caught was helpful. Listen to the man, Magda. He had powers once, so he knows. He's been through a hell of a lot, kid. It's weird to say "man" when referring to Sam or Dean. Not that they aren't men, just that I say "the Winchester Boys" so much.

"This is how we will stay together. We will enter Heaven as a family. Eat!"
—Gail

And off the deep end she goes, and goes far, far, far.

Uh, does God's work also involve poisoning your family? I am very unfamiliar with these passages of the Bible. Not that I'm very familiar anyway, but this seems like something that would be frowned upon.

"She is the Devil! The Devil is among us! She must be cleansed! She is the Devil! Pray for us!"
—Gail "Crazy as a Loon" Peterson

"If you ever need anything, anything, call me. Okay? I'll be there."
—Sam to Magda

Because Sam is sweet as pie. These Winchester boys make friends wherever they go, with all this business of saving people and hunting things.

"What did Beth want?"
—Sam
"She gave me her number, her personal number."
—Dean
"You were gonna shoot her."
—Sam

Beth? Wow, I forgot about her completely in both tweeting and recapping. Sorry, Beth. I'll get to you when I get to rewatch the episode.

You were right. This whole Mom thing, it's... I mean, we get her back and then she leaves. I hate it, but I get it. I do. I guess I'm just still working through some of that crap. I'll try to be less of a dick about it.
—Dean to Sam

"Some of that crap" meaning all those difficult emotions. Poor sweet, damaged, so not touchy-feely, but vulnerable Dean. I'm sure that subsequent text from Mary helped. It clearly got to him.

"I'll always be Mom."
—Mary to Dean

What an unfortunate moment to say that, because right after came this sad scene. Doesn't negate what I said, though. If there was no feeling then we wouldn't care about what happened here.

Paloma Kwiatkowski | © The CW

Well, that was just awful. Poor Magda. After all that. I hope Sam and Dean get to avenge this tragedy.

So, Mr. Ketch must be the Men of Letters' resident psychopath. More well-suited to the job than even Toni Bevell it seems. A completely dispassionate robotic killing machine.

To complicate matters, I love the actor playing Ketch. I checked David Haydn-Jones out on Twitter about half way through the season, and he is delightful, funny, and lovable. Where Ketch has no heart, or a very small, twisted one, David is the sweetest thing.
