Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
First Look at 1931
Season 7 Preview

"It's only a matter of time."

I haven't had the chance yet to say more than a few things about the season 6 finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., even though it was weeks ago now. Finales always seem to get away from me. I don't know if I tend to get busier at this time of year or if I keep putting it off because there's plenty of time before the next season. It's really annoying that I do that when I love a show this much. S.H.I.E.L.D. should have all my attention until I've run out of ways to praise it or it's all over.

Speaking of over, I happened to be up at 3 AM on Saturday, and a tweet popped up with this scene from and mini trailer for the final season, which got a "Holy flurking schnit" out of me. It won't be airing until 2020, but I can hardly believe I'm already saying that: final season. I swear it just started, this beauty of a show. MAOS deserves to go on a lot longer. I'm delighted, though, that they get to end the way they wanted...twice.

This video kind of ripped open the wound. I had blissfully forgotten that they had shot seasons 6 and 7 together and have already wrapped on the series. Now we have to wait through fall, winter, and next spring to see the conclusion of all these years of dedication while the cast uses that time to move on. It's a bittersweet anticipation, and I'll be crushed when it ends, but they made it worth it.

"Sometimes you're dumping your heart out on a concrete floor and trying to make some magic..."‬
—Clark Gregg, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 2 Declassified"

They more than tried. They succeeded with every step. I wish Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Jeff Ward (and those who have come and gone) all the best for their commitment.
