THE WALKING DEAD
End of the World Teaser
Season 10 Preview

9/18/2019

"We are the end of the world.
We are free."

Ooooh, the Whisperers keep getting creepier. That just makes me love this storyline more and I can't wait until they meet a satisfying end.

I am so beyond excited for this season. Then I'll be terrified when the mid-season finale comes. Terrified again when it's time for the season finale. Then I'll be excited all over again when the trailer for season 11 drops. Terror and excitement: two of the most prevalent feelings that ebb and flow and swirl together around memories and anticipation of The Walking Dead. Two others, just as strong, would be heartbreak and longing. The heartbreak of every single loss and knowing there will be more to come, and the raw, vulnerable performances that anchor it right to the ground. The longing for the past when survival seemed simpler and for a future where they've found some peace. That's what I'm watching for and hope it's the place they get to in the end.

But it's not the end yet, and I hope that it's not coming anytime soon. Can anyone else believe it's been 10 years already? Can you believe we made it through losing Rick? There have been so many losses, but that one cut the deepest for me and it was so beautifully shot and profoundly acted. I expected nothing less from Andrew Lincoln, who never failed to make me shed a tear (or an ocean), feel a pull deep in my gut, and capture all of my attention. Picking up the pieces afterwards was also quite an experience as everyone filled that gap he left behind. I had no doubts this extraordinarily talented cast, who by now know their characters intimately, could carry on without him. So, let's get on with it. Season 10, here I come.

"The question of what to do and the fear it breeds will infect the communities and give rise to paranoia, propaganda, secret agendas, and infighting that will test them as individuals and as a society. The very idea of whether civilization can survive in a world filled with the dead hangs in the balance."

*I actually saw this teaser after midnight on Saturday, during our seventh hour in the E.R. waiting for Mom to get a bed. It's her sixth hospitalization this year, so life has been too hectic to get much done. Still, I wanted to comment before the season started, because I know I won't get the chance to post much this year, the same way I haven't been able to keep up with the last two amazing seasons. :(

Bonus videos! You've already seen them, but they deserve to be seen again.

"Together we silence the whispers."

That sound in the background music accompanying this teaser was intensely creepy and brilliant.

Damn, I love that weapon that Rosita has. I know I've seen it before, but rarely. I read it was a Macuahuitl, but it obviously doesn't have obsidian teeth. It's actually serrated. (Saw blades? Shark teeth?) Someone else said it was a Tetoanea. Whatever it is, I think I'm going to be obsessed with it.

"If you don't protect what belongs to you, then, sooner or later, it belongs to someone else."

The original Comic-Con trailer from August that I never got to share. I didn't get to watch ANY Comic-Con this year. I've included this for completeness or if you happen to have never seen it or want to see it again. I'd play it a thousand times if I had the time. This season looks incredible.
