Fringe and The Walking Dead Lend a Hand With RSS

That Fringe tribute knife is an oldie but a goodie. No, it's not time to talk about that beautiful, imaginative, brilliant series right now. Although any time is appropriate, I don't have time for that. But if you'd like to know more about the knife, you can read Forgiveness and Hope.

I'm just doing a little image test here. RSS ignores tags and shows everything, which I forgot since I hadn't paid attention to my feed for the longest time, until a few days ago when I changed from Feedburner to FeedBlitz. But it looks like I spent all that time fixing the code for blog excerpts to hide spoilers just so that RSS can ruin things. Sorry to anyone that happened to. So, I'm seeing if post updates get shown in the RSS feed. Need to know for when I have spoilers. I'll edit the post after publishing and after the feed updates, adding another image under the first. If the updates don't show then I know I can post without something spoilery, like that image from The Last Ship: John Pyper-Ferguson, and then update later.

Binge Watchers Collection

 photo Binge Watchers Collection_600px_60q_zpsf2swcway.jpg

Oopsie! Binge Watchers Collection is a seven-day sale, and I'm finally getting to it with only four days left. I’m sorry. Life is just too damn busy. I’m actually working right now. Got a webinar going on and it’s a bit hard to concentrate, so I’ll make this quick. My favorite shirt here is Open Your Mind by 6amcrisis, because it has Walter Bishop. I miss Fringe. I love Breaking Bad, too, but I've seen these shirts a number of times. They will probably come around again. And the Arrested Development shirts are hilarious. Inspector Spacetime, from Community, is also a great one. I would actually get all of the tee I mentioned if I could.

I don’t know how it would translate to a t-shirt, but I would love one for Bosch. I binged on that show (happy birthday to me!) and I’m going to do it again. Titus Welliver, as I’ve already mentioned in a post and in so very many tweets, is incredible in the role. He made me fall in love with the character in one episode and now I need all the books...and the shirts. Someone has to make me some Bosch shirts.

[Edit, 7/24/15]  I also just binged on Daredevil. I had a bit of difficulty getting into it, because I was constantly interrupted during the first three episodes I tried to watch and it took me a couple months. Yes, months! I almost gave up. I just never could find the time. But this week I watched the other ten episodes. I used any moment I could find: during every commercial break, while waiting for my humidifier to fill, and when I should have been sleeping, the same as when I was losing a lot of sleep in June to Twin Peaks. After episode four I was hooked. Charlie Cox was the conflicted Daredevil, Matt Murdock, who actually takes as much punishment as he dishes out, which is a whole hell of a lot; Elden Henson was adorable and hilarious as Matt's bestie, Foggy Nelson; Deborah Ann Woll was the vulnerable yet stubborn Karen Page; and Vincent D'Onofrio was mesmerizing, poignant, and terrifying as Wilson Fisk. All gave top-notch performances.

If you missed the sale, not to worry. These shirts are all still available. They just cost a bit more now at $20 each instead of $17.

Fringe Left Us Two Years Ago

I already retweeted this video from @DannaAissa. Then a little while later I decided I wanted to Pin it, because I haven't done much with my Terrific Television board since last summer and I was there already adding some Doctor Who. Then immediately after I pinned it, I wondered why I hadn't thought of at least mentioning the second-year anniversary of the end of Fringe, a show I used to endlessly talk about. It's one of my all-time favorites, but I feel like a bad fan having not had a moment to rewatch in so long. I need to do that, because Fringe is one of the most emotionally true and beautifully acted shows I've ever had the pleasure of falling in love with.

If I ever have a chance to start drawing again, Fringe will have to be one of my first subjects. Walter and Peter in one of the many precious father-son moments? Olivia remembering Peter? Maybe something about Naked Tuesday. I don't know. For now I can at least honor it with a few more words (among the few thousand I've already written), someone else's superb video editing skills, and four great t-shirts from RedBubble that are available below. There were never enough t-shirts celebrating this superb series.

Fringe Versus Fringe

Of course! Why wouldn't I miss these? It's a Two Fury day, which means two shirts compete. They both ended up being Fringe shirts, and at a time when I cannot buy. And it happens that I was so busy updating my sites that I didn't see the email about them, so the sale is almost over. Perfect timing. Only four hours left to get yours for $11 a piece. And four hours left for me to regret my decision not to get two more shirts from my favorite show..

I Want to Observe You in This Shirt

It took me a few seconds to realize what other breed this Fringe shirt was crossed with. I knew "I want to Observe" sounded familiar... Oh, yeah, The X-Files! I've seen the poster dozens of times, but not any time recently. Perfect not just because they're both great sci-fi, but also that I remember people were complaining in the beginning that Fringe was just a rip-off of that far better show that did everything first. They were so wrong. Sadly, Fringe didn't last as long, but I feel great with how it ended and that it actually got a series finale instead of being dropped after the end of a season like so many other shows.

I wish I could add this to my collection, but my wallet and closet won't stand for it right now. I am definitely bookmarking the artist's Red Bubble page for later. Hopefully, it will be around until a better time for me. But you can get it today for $10. Shipping starts at $2.98.

Fringe Posters are Finally Up

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos*Fringe Celebration Poster by Zort70

Actually, they were up a while ago, but that was the day I hurt myself. Whacked my head into my desk while I was cleaning. Haven't thought about finishing this post since. Maybe it knocked the idea out of place for a bit. Anyway...

Did you miss the Fringe Benefits Project posters? That's too bad, because they're great, high quality prints. Yes, they were expensive, $43 a piece with shipping, but they were limited and the show was ending. It was a one-time thing. I got the first, "White Tulip," because there was no way I was going to pass that up just to see what the others were. That episode was one of the most important. The tulip became a symbol of the show, and it played a significant part again in the finale. I passed on "The Plateau," because I couldn't have a glow-in-the-dark poster in my room at night and had nowhere else for it. I got "The Transformation," because it was just very cool-creepy, very Fringe. And since I could only afford one more, I waited patiently for the final poster. It is a gorgeous group portrait of all the most important characters.

Well, you can't get those anymore, unless you want to spend $90 on eBay, but you can buy Zort70's beautiful poster with all the glyph words at CafePress. You're going to need some wall space, though, since it's 23"x35". I also got a final season poster on eBay for about $8.

*Please excuse the picture quality. Old camera and terrible lighting in my room are not ideal. There's also quite a bit of lens distortion. How annoying.

I also have a little butterfly thing with an Observer hat. It used to be a Santa, but it was kind of past Christmas, so I had to put him away. The butterfly fits, though. ;)
