Big Man on Campus

8/29/2012

I miss Bob Malooga. I found him hilarious when I was younger, and this scene still cracks me up. Big Man on Campus is never on TV. According to one comment, it seems the masters burned in a fire at some point, so it will never be released on anything but VHS. Very sad. I guess if I ever see it at a tag sale, I will have to snatch it up. There are only seven copies available on Amazon, starting at $37.95!

Just Another Thing to Buy

8/28/2012

So, I bought a nice new Plantronics Audio 995 wireless headset. My old wired fold up set, the DSP-400, was beyond on its way out. The right ear piece would only work half the time and I had to tape both wires into a very specific position. This is the same set I replaced twice in three years. Each time I did, though, Plantronics replaced it for free, so that was a great thing and I can highly recommend the company. I should have just gone with the same set or something similar, but I was so ready to get something wireless. I have just too much clutter around.

Unfortunately, after just 20 minutes of work I got a headache which then traveled down my neck. I'm perfectly fine when I take it off. I tried on and off for the last two days but it's definitely not working for me. My original pair I can wear for 8 hours without a problem. I have a shit ton of work tomorrow and the only way I'm going to be able to do it without a lot of pain is to use my half working DSP-400. Woohoo. Good thing I didn't throw it away yet. So, now I have to get a new one again. Hopefully, someone on eBay isn't affected by slightly too tight headphones, because I sure would like some of my money back.

The Boston Shows

8/28/2012

For some reason the word "cookie" made me think of Boston Common. Hmm, I don't remember it having anything to do with cookies. I watched the show, probably because there was nothing else on. It wasn't good, though.

Then of course, I thought of Boston Legal. Far, far superior to the comedy above. Sadly, there are very few clips. Most are from The Practice. But this is one of the best.

And Boston Public, another very good show, but I don't remember much of it now.

Dinosaur Tag Team vs. Space Western

8/28/2012

PhotobucketPhotobucket

The clear winner for me is the Dinosaurs/Jurassic Park mash up. I already have two Firefly/Serenity shirts, and there will ALWAYS be more of those. I never even thought of Dinosaurs being a shirt, especially not when it first aired and all I cared about were sneakers and video games. But I loved the show and it's a part of my childhood, and JP is one of my favorite movies, so I must have this. In fact, I bought it before I even started this post. Alright, now I have to start saving.

UPDATE
KAYLEE'S SPACECRAFT REPAIR is available at TeeFury for $18.
KAYLEE'S SPACECRAFT REPAIR is also available in Bamboota's Red Bubble store in a variety of colors for $27.04.
GOTTA LOVE ME is available in Bamboota's Red Bubble store for $27.03.

I have never seen this trailer. Makes me want to go back and watch it again for the first time. One of the best theater experiences. I still get goosebumps when I watch it.

Speaking of goosebumps, I got them while watching this fan trailer.

The One Who Knocks

This is probably my favorite line of the show. It's certainly one of the most chilling. It's the moment I knew Walt had turned a corner from which he was unlikely to come back. Unfortunately, I already decided to buy a Dinosaurs/Jurassic Park shirt at TeeFury tomorrow, and I'm still without extra cash to waste. Eventually I'll get a Breaking Bad shirt, but not today.

You know, once in a while I really have to do these posts before I go to bed. I'm always losing half a day on them. And, no, this isn't just a t-shirt blog now. I just haven't had a lot of time lately. When a great shirt that I want (and sometimes can't have) comes along, I have to share it.

Rogers and Stark 2012

8/26/2012

Photobucket

Ahem, RiptApparel, why didn't I get an email about this shirt? I am an affiliate after all and you should know I love The Avengers and Iron Man...even though you don't know me and I haven't told you. Still. Anyway, I have an Iron Man/Mario star shirt and two Coulson shirts already and, as I said just one post ago, no monies. So, this will have to settle for being wallpaper. Oh, wait, Ript did tell me about it. My eyes just sort of skipped that part. Too much mail.

Doctor Who

T-Shirt

The more I think about this shirt the more I want it. Funny, creepy, and cool. But I already have a few Doctor Who shirts and I'm kind of broke. I'll have to settle for keeping it as wallpaper and hope it comes around again at another time. This makes me a bit sad.

Sale ends in 14 and a half hours. Get your own for $10.

SUPERNATURAL
Hell & Back World Tour
T-Shirt

8/24/2012

Photobucket

As soon as I saw the name of this t-shirt in my email, I knew it was about Supernatural. I don't think I just guessed right. I think I've seen this shirt before somewhere else. I passed it up then and I was going to do the same today. I've passed on so many great shirts, and many Supernatural shirts, because I can't buy everything. But I think this one I will cave on, since it's giving me a second chance to own it, and I just saved money last night by actually getting my hard drives to work in my super annoying PC upgrade (took a week!), so I don't have to buy a couple of external enclosures now.

Hurry up! It's only 10 dollars and it's gone in 10 hours.

UPDATE
Now named Winchester Bros. World Tour, this essential Supernatural shirt is back. This time you can find it at RedBubble for $23.08.

If you've never seen this series, here's a little taste. SPN has a silly, fun-loving side, and this is my favorite outtake.

Perfect Lines ~ 3rd Music Edition

8/18/2012

Lovers need a place to rest their head
As a broken promise returns too late
Another sunset meets an argument
Take me to the place of broken dreams
Where your hope deserted or showed up late
And tore apart the love we might have made

Nothing (Bonus Track) by Darren Hayes on Grooveshark

Darren Hayes has been a favorite for a long time, but his latest album, "Secret Codes and Battleships," is already my most played. As such, I couldn't pick between the two lines. Both are beautifully depressing in their phrasing and imagery.

Bonus Tracks CD, $17.20
Regular CD, $10.90

So, DeepDiscount links seem to have an invisible box around the pictures that make this look like blech. I would have used fye, but there were no pics or info, or J&R, but it's not available. Anyway, the bonus tracks CD is the one you want. It has "Nothing" on it and six others.

Perfect Lines ~ 2nd Music Edition

8/17/2012

While this city pumps its aching heart
For one more drop of blood
We work our fingers down to dust
And we wait for kingdom come

This is only my second post in this series, so I thought I would go with lyrics that are more familiar to me, but I've been playing this song a lot lately...and I do mean a lot. Never heard a single thing by The Gaslight Anthem before "Mae." I don't even know how I found it. Must have been in Spotify's "What's New" section.

What is it about this song? It's that lyric. It's the beauty of the music. (Both which are requirements for all the music I love.) It's the slight roughness of Brian Fallon's Springsteen-esque voice. I'm not even a Springsteen girl, though I may be one day, since I absolutely adore "Radio Nowhere." And I'm sure a Gaslight Anthem fan now because of "Mae" and a few other selections on their newest album "Handwritten." Unnecessary purchases are on hold for now, but I should get both of them next time I'm shopping for music, and Keane, too, since I've played their latest more times than I care to admit. Addicted.

CD, $13.99 @ J&R
Deluxe CD, $15.99 @ J&R

Dark Tower vs. Community

8/14/2012

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Community is a fantastically funny, irreverent, odd little comedy. I love it...even if Chang annoys me. But I don't have a love for Inglorious Basterds. So, "He Followed" is the clear winner here. It's a good thing I already have a Dark Tower shirt or I would be snapping this up even though I'm budgeting right now. I've had to replace too many things lately. I want this so badly. Sadly, I must skip it. D*:

No More Laundry, Please

8/13/2012

I feel like I spent almost the entire day washing and folding the laundry. I started in the morning after cleaning a bit, even before breakfast, and only finished the last load around 7:00 PM. I almost wanted work today instead of all that. Well, at least the time wasn't completely wasted since I finally started season 2 of Fringe! I haven't seen it since it first aired and it's been taunting me from the Blu-ray shelf for about a year.

I did just one other thing. I finished a weapon, which I've been putting off for a few weeks because I've been too busy. This was done in Inkpad and ArtStudio and originally created September 20, 2007. Eventually, I would love to relearn how to draw more than just fantasy blades. I wanted to practice, but there was just a lot to do today...and every day. *sigh*

I couldn't choose between three versions. @docsaico liked this one best.

The Nothing is Coming

8/11/2012

Photobucket

The death of Artax is still one of the saddest movie moments in my life. The weight of the beautiful horse's sadness was so overwhelming that he didn't fight to save himself. No, Artax is not on the shirt, but it's still one of the first things I remember every time I think of Neverending Story. So, be reminded of it with this shirt that's a cross with Game of Thrones, a show that keeps killing off its direwolves, those fierce protectors of their humans and nothing like G'mork, the wolf that served the power behind the Nothing.

I want this one so badly. Unfortunately, I went on a huge spending spree recently, so I have to stick to my budget for once. It's so hard to do. I also had to pass on a Falkor shirt before. I sure hope another comes up at some point.

Perfect Lines ~ 1st Music Edition

8/10/2012

There's a lot of music that I love...and TV, movies, and books. I usually share my favorite lines when recommending music, in hopes that others will go, "Ooh, that's a great line. Maybe I'll give it a shot." So, why not do a quick post when I'm in the mood? Maybe this will be a series. Maybe I'll do it just once. I'm forgetful. ;)

There is a design, an alignment, a cry of my heart to see the beauty of love as it was made to be.

$17.59 @ J&R

There's no reason not to get Spotify. It handily beats other music sites as a downloadable player that lets you listen to your personal collection or anything in their catalog (free and ad-supported or paid), and it doesn't take up much bandwidth or system resources. I have an 8 year old PC, but it hasn't skipped or frozen once in all the months I've used it. It only lacks some community features, but you can follow people (me!) and recommend songs. I have loved only Lala before, but I'm very fond of Spotify.

From Pure Luck to Dinosaurs

It's like my brain is bored while I'm working and goes off to have some fun. Very distracting.

TwoFury Starts Today

8/07/2012

PhotobucketPhotobucket

TeeFury started a new thing today called TwoFury. You get to pick between two competing shirts, or you can buy both. Though I didn't read the comic and barely saw the cartoon, I absolutely loved The Tick with Patrick Warburton and I still giggle every time I think of Batmanuel, so it gets my vote. I never was a Calvin and Hobbes fan, mainly because my newspapers didn't run that strip. I would love to read it, though, since I've seen so many adorable crossover shirts with those two.

A Monstrosity in a Tiny Room

8/03/2012

Photobucket

From Friday until Tuesday morning - except for a while on Saturday when I was taking a break for dinner and The Dark Knight Rises, where Michael Caine made me cry - I was searching. Searching for a mattress. I got this one. Searching for a desk. I got this one. Searching for a new computer. Didn't get one yet, but watching a ton of stuff on eBay, hoping for a deal that only I notice, and pricing the shit out of parts on Amazon and NewEgg.

All of those days I was up until the wee hours of the morning, just obsessing over not being able to find the right thing. Too many choices of bed. Too few choices of desk. Only two desks out of thousands fit my set up, room size, budget, and were aesthetically pleasing. I took a chance on the one that has less storage space. That means I'm going to have to get rid of a bunch of stuff, clean like there's no tomorrow, and be creative. Also, I should find some nice boxes at Target or Staples to hold my ridiculous mess.

Both the mattress and the desk arrived at the same time yesterday, after less than a week, from different companies on the same FedEx truck. And yet my books, The Art of Marvel's The Avengers and The Art and Making of the Dark Knight Trilogy, still haven't shipped. Not annoyed by that at all, just confused.

My bed has been killing me for years. My desk is a monstrosity in a tiny room. And I've been fighting with my PC for the last four years out of eight. And to think I just cleared it last week of some useless things, got a new antivirus, and was planning on another fresh XP reinstall after a thorough case cleaning. I loved it when it was new. It was fast and pretty, not bogged down by hundreds of half working programs and the mess of ads and flash and interactivity everyone has on their sites now. It's been getting too hard to work with. I'm sick of XP, though I may keep it to save money, at least for now. I'm sick of not having power, of having to fix it constantly, and of not being able to play anything new. Half the time I'm on here I'm waiting for it to do something. I need my computer for work and for the last year it's just been very hard to deal with. I have less and less time to devote to keeping it running. This Tuesday was the last straw when it crashed minutes before my deadline, after having delayed me all day.

Still, I'll be sad to see it go, but I may just do an upgrade, since people on eBay seem to be way overpricing their two-year-old PCs. For me, it's still a big chunk of change to start with, because it's so old I need at least a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM. But I don't have to immediately replace everything, and other parts I'll use until they blow up, like my last power supply. Really, it sparked in my half awake face when I turned it on one morning. That was awesome. :(

Anyway, I like the idea of my own Frankenstein's monster computer. Ooh, I wish I could give it a new paint job to match. And YAY for finding money in an account that I haven't checked in a while that I specifically opened for saving for a new computer.

At the same time as all that, I was trying to finish my letter to the Fringe cast that I'd procrastinated on since early June. It was 4 AM before I was done. It was due that day and I had to work, so it had to be done then. I get sick if I go to bed so late, but at least I cleared my mind of a bit of clutter. I also put an Otterbox Defender case up on eBay, and on Thursday last week I decided to finish ripping up the carpet in my room I'd started on in the winter. Everything that was under heavy furniture I left alone. It's a very hard thing to do when your room is small and you keep almost everything inside while moving the whole mess around so as not to clutter the hallway.

Yeah, it was a damn busy five days, and today I'm unpacking my mattress and setting up my desk. Possibly I'll only get to moving the contents of my monstrosity into buckets, dismantling said monstrosity, and removing the last bit of carpet before I lose interest and take a video game break. But it'll definitely be done by Monday. Can't wait to see what that looks like.
